Lesser Forest Blue or Forest Pierrot

Posted by
itchydogimages (Pu'er, China) on 20 September 2013 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

(Taraka hamada, Lycaenidae)
A pretty and proud-looking little butterfly but remarkable for its aphidophagous larvae. The caterpillars are carnivorous and feed on aphids on bamboo.
Pu'er, Yunnan, China

(ps. aphidophagous is the official fantastic 'word of the week')
