Robber Flies (Asilidae)

It looks cuddly, but in a not-too-unusual act of cannibalism, the bottom fly is valiantly, yet unsuccessfully, resisting an assault from its more dominant (and likely female) counterpart. As there are no toxins or poisons involved, the struggle continued for some time before the victim succumbed to being overpowered and impaled and ultimately consumed.
